SUGGESTED INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGIES
Challenge students in groups to create one-minute
vignettes that address the themes of settlement, land
ownership, and daily life from the perspectives of
women and men from Aboriginal communities, New
France, and British North America. Provide
opportunities for students to film their vignettes and
present them to the class.
• As a class, brainstorm world views portrayed in
stories and myths that are shared by members of
various cultures. Invite students to create and
present their own stories.SUGGESTED ASSESSMENT STRATEGIES
Develop criteria for self, peer, or teacher assessment of one-minute vignettes. For example:
- examples are relevant and vivid
- sustains a particular perspective or point of view
- is consistent with historical evidence
