TRADITIONAL COMPONENT
Traditional methods of evaluation will comprise 50% of your grade. This will include assignments established by the teacher to assess comprehension, composition, creativity and critical thinking skills.
THE PORTFOLIO
Students often complain that education provides individuals with little choice and freedom. The concept of a portfolio provides you with that freedom of choice and the latitude to pursue content and projects that intrigue you. Just remember, with freedom comes RESPONSIBILITY and personal accountability.
Liberty means responsibility. That is why most men dread it.
George Bernard Shaw
Evaluation and presentation of your portfolio comprises 50% of your final grade. The portfolio allows YOU to determine content, methods of delivery and weighting of assignments. There are four sections to the portfolio. You need to choose projects that will meet the minimum requirements for each section and will earn a minimum total of 100 points. Bonus marks will be awarded for points earned over 100.
The content must be based on material examined in class or on a current issue or area of interest approved by the teacher. In other words, there is considerable breadth of choice so that you may pursue topics that are meaningful and of interest to you.
