GRADE 11
ASSIGNMENT
As a grade
11 students about to head out into the world, it is expected that you will
graduate with a critical and adult sensibility about reading novels and short
fiction. The purpose of this assignment is to help you identify an author you enjoy,
why you enjoy a particular style of writing and how this author exhibits
certain elements of writing style.
- You will independently research various authors in order to choose one author of short stories that you would like to pursue for this assignment. You will write a 200-word explanation about why you have chosen this author.
- You will find a minimum of three short stories by the author and read them thoroughly. To help you gain insight into your chosen stories, you may read online notes but you must print out the notes and hand them in with your assignment. The idea behind all effective reading is for you to interact with the text. This is accomplished by a close reading of the text. Quote and cite your sources. Any incidences of plagiarism will result in a zero on the assignment.
- Here is your final assignment.
