1. Teachers barely have time to scan a list, much less to open up each site individually, and figure out the idiosyncrasies of searching that site. They need information to be accessible, and timely. Teachers make do most of the time and come to us, the search experts, with their challenges.
2. Lists tend to be way too long, because it's easy to compile them.
3. Lists are often a dog’s breakfast - a little ordering, whether alphabetical, chronological, thematic, is essential.
4. Lists do not explain, evaluate or advocate for resources. Lists can be enhanced with our information literacy comments. We are teachers, not compilers.
5. Because of the effectiveness of googling, it is often easier to search directly, rather than to remember a reference tool and then search within it.
