His blood drizzled down
Amanda’s shaking hands as she fought back sobs.
Wiping her swollen eyes with her blood-stained hands, she rose from the
ground and left Jason’s cold body to rot on the icy pavement.

Jason Foster was a good boy. He was a straight A student, an amazing
soccer player and he often donated his spare time to volunteer at the local
children’s soccer club. Jason had many
friends, but he didn’t go to any of the parties they went to. Jason wasn’t like that. That is, until he met Amanda.
Amanda had always been a little weird. Instead of giving her classmates hearts on
Valentines Day, she chose to draw a realistic image of one and hand out divorce
statistics. That was Amanda. She was used to moving a lot; her father
worked in construction, so they barely stayed in one place for more than three
years. It wasn’t a surprise when her
father told her they were moving to Coquitlam.
In her short 16 years of life, she had moved five times. She didn’t mind though. It was hard for Amanda to make friends…there
was just something about her that was different. Maybe it was her thick black hair that made
her skin look pale and translucent, or perhaps it was her blood red lips or her
striking black eyes that scared people off.
She was a beautiful girl, but something just wasn’t right. So when Amanda got the chance to start over
and make a new life for herself…she never missed the opportunity.
Jason’s heart fluttered as he rounded the corner
right before he reached Amanda’s house.
It always did when he thought of her.
Something about her was so…Jason didn’t know how to put it. She was just different. Ever since she came to town, Jason couldn’t
stop thinking about her. He failed
tests, missed open goals in soccer and stopped volunteering at the soccer club
because he couldn’t focus on anything but her.
He’d even started going to parties, just in the hopes she’d be
there. But tonight he didn’t have to
hope anymore. Tonight he was going to
meet her in the park near her house, and he couldn’t wait.
Amanda combed through her thick wavy hair as she got
ready to meet with Jason. Ever since she
had hit puberty, it had always been like this; whenever she moved to a new
town, a boy would fall madly in love with her.
She really couldn’t help it if some crazy guy was obsessed with her, but
what was bound to happen next Amanda couldn’t deal with again. She had to make him realize it was a mistake
to like her. Any boy that liked her
ended up getting hurt, and not just emotionally. A chill crept up her spine as she thought
about what had happened to Jasper… it was too horrible to think about. Amanda grabbed her purse and walked out her
bedroom door. She had to make this
right.
“Amanda,” Jason whispered, “I’ve been waiting for
you!”
“Jason,
listen,” Amanda began before Jason crushed her in a huge bear hug. Amanda struggled away before she continued,
“I’m sorry Jason, but this…us…it’s just not going to work out. Believe me; this is for your own good. You really don’t want to get involved with
me. It never ends well,” Amanda
stuttered as she thought of all the boys that had mysteriously gone missing
after they had confessed their love to her, or Jasper’s body that was found
washed up on the beach right outside her house.
She swallowed and fought back tears as she turned around to walk away
from Jason, her thoughts swarming in her head like a whirlpool. Jason wasn’t going to give up that easily
though.
It was a
chilly December night, and the ground was icy as Amanda crossed the street to
her house. Her head was still spinning,
and the feeling of nausea crept up her throat as she walked toward her front
door. Just as she was about to open it
and step inside, she heard a loud screech and turned her head just in time to
see a car smash right into Jason. His
body flew across the street and dropped right in front of her driveway, and as
the car spun around in circles on a patch of black ice, Amanda felt a cold
chill run through her body that had nothing to do with the cold weather. The scream that escaped from Amanda’s lips
was purely subconscious, and her body numbed as she ran forwards toward Jason’s
limp and bloody body. Her lip quivered
as his blood drizzled down her shaking hands.
Wiping her swollen eyes with her blood-stained fingers, she rose from
the ground and left his cold body to rot on the icy pavement. Just
another boy gone, Amanda thought, Time
to move.
