Canadian History Video Game Pitch
Your task is to design the layout and plan for a video game about the events in North America between 1700-1814 that people will want to play. You will present the plan for the game to the class as if you were trying to sell the idea to a game developer. Your presentation (not necessarily the game) will show your knowledge and understanding of the events in North America at the time. Your game and presentation will attempt to show your understanding of the following people and events:
|
Cabot, Cartier, and Champlain's Accomplishments King William and Queen Anne's War – CCC Seven Years War – CCC American Revolution – CCC War of 1812 – CCC |
Suggested Steps:
- Make sure you understand the events above and are able to explain it (study/ review them)
-
Planning:
- Think of a game genre that would best fit the events. (Strategy? RPG? First Person Shooter?)
- How will a player progress in the game? (Bosses? Achievements?)
- How does the game begin? Where and how will it end?
- How can you incorporate all the topics above into a game? (it can be info that you read in a game, it doesn't have to be an interactive part of it) Does your game need a storyline?
-
Prepare a presentation that takes the audience through the game from start to finish.
- Use visuals to help the audience understand the game (flow charts, diagrams, example of a level, character drawings, etc.)
- Make sure you present your knowledge of the topics above
- How will you sell the game to the audience?
- Create a written summary of your presentation (script) to hand in
