You are living in BC in 1867 and you are asked by Governor James Douglas to report on how Canadian Confederation went because BC is considering it.
In your report, discuss:
- The differing reactions from each province (and any problems about Confederation)
- Evidence from the political cartoons as opinions of the people
- Based on your observations, explain why you would or wouldn't recommend BC joining Confederation.
April 6:
You are a newspaper reporter following the events of the negotiations to create Canada. You will report on what happened at each of the 3 conferences. In your report, include:
- Any extracurricular activities of the delegates
- The provinces that were present at the conferences
- What was discussed at the conference
- The results of the conference and any issues that arose
- Your personal thoughts as a reporter at that time (choose one of the colonies as your home)

Use the Chart below to fill out your homework worksheet. Pay careful attention to where the lines connect. It doesn't matter where you put the executive council and legislative council because they have equal powers.
For each position on the chart, read the attached readings and write down in each rectangle:

2) what social class the people in the position come from (nobles, upper, middle, general public)

Compare and Contrast the immigration experience of the Irish, Blacks, and Chinese in the 1800s.
Intro
- Give a statement about whether they are similar, different or an extent of each. (thesis)
- Give a general discussion about push and pull factors
Body
- Paragraph 1: Use specific evidence to show how each is unique (differences/contrast)
- Paragraph 2: where two experiences are the same but not the other
- Paragraph 3: Use specific evidence to show similarities (you might need to think general rather than specific)
Conclusion
- Restate your thesis
- Summarize your body paragraphs
- Last sentence is what you want the reader to remember (you can repeat a variation of the thesis)
