Regional Challenge
You have been assigned to represent a region of Canada in a contest for the title of Canada's most valuable, beneficial, and generally favourite area.
Using an Atlas, your textbook (Horizons), and other sources, work together in your group to find information to answer the following questions:
- What types of resources(e.g. minerals)are there in your region?
- What is the physical geography of your region? (What does it look like? Is it flat, grassy, mountainous? Does it have a lot of rivers (fresh water) or is it beside an ocean?)
- e.g.Ecozones:
-
- Is there anything in the history of your region that would influence people's choice? (economic regions/history - Chapter 8: fur trade, railway, politics, famous people, etc.?)
- What are the main cities? The capital? Where do most people in that region live?
- What is the climate (temperature, weather, etc.) of your region?
What makes your region unique or special?
- Anything else you find interesting!
-
Using the information your group has just collected put together a presentation or skit on your region.
- Make sure that you include all of the information you discovered above and visuals, remember you want to convince us that your region is the best choice!
- You will have five minutes to present your case to your classmates and hopefully win their vote.
