THE WONDERS OF THE LIVING WORLD...LET US HELP YOU CHOOSE YOUR SPECTACULAR SPECIES!
GO DIRECTLY TO THE ASSIGNMENT....................................................................................................................................................
In this assignment you are asked to:
1) Choose topics to research – make a personal value judgment about what you consider to be 5 of the “ the world’s most spectacular living species”.
2) Find words to describe your “wonderful”creatures. (use a thesaurus to avoid boring words)
3) Find the detailed scientific data as evidence to prove your choices.
For the first part of the assignment we recommend you use print resources, especially library books, magazines and newspaper articles. This is the fun browsing part of the assignment, and library books in subject order (Dewey numbers) allow you to cover a lot of ground quickly. Each book has the unique personal perspective of the writer and designer. Wait for creatures to jump off the page at you. This is the KEY to all meaningful research – choose a topic of interest to you. Luckily this is exactly what your teacher is asking you to do.
Once you have zeroed in on your 5 “Creatures”, you will use both book and online sources. The library has posted a detailed list of excellent sites to help you.
Here is a breakdown of the order you will find the books on the library shelves. This will be especially useful to know, as you need to find a microorganism, a plant an animal and more.
